What are we looking for?

Position: Accounting & Tax Manager

 

Problems we have found:
  1. Business management that doesn’t have correct accounting records and internal controls.
  2. Individuals and businesses are overpaying taxes by filing returns that don’t reflect their facts & circumstances due to lack of a robust accounting structure.
  3. Individuals and businesses can make smarter accounting and tax decisions and save money on taxes if they know applicable strategies to their situation and implement them.
Solutions We provide:
  1. Knowledge and organization- Help users discover and implement strategies that are applicable to their facts and circumstances to save money on taxes.
  2. Accuracy – Give individuals and businesses an accurate calculation of how much tax they owe based on their facts and circumstances.

The Stakeholders: 
  1. Small/Medium Business Owners – Today, our customer base is made up of hard-working business owners who are looking to get additional help navigating the complexity of taxes as they continue to scale their businesses.
  2. High Net Worth Individuals – We also help our clients who may not necessarily own a business but want to find was to growth their wealth and understand how to properly navigate their taxes.
  3. Our Team Members – We have 2 full-time team members who we need to keep up to date on all tax legislation changes and provide helpful insight to our clients.

What you’ll do:

Main Duties:
  1. Train and become a tax planning advisor helping walk clients through different strategies that may help them make smarter tax and financial decisions.
  2. Prepare and review year-end tax returns for small business clients and high net worth individuals.
  3. Prepare and present tax planning kickoff calls, implementation calls and quarterly calls engaging the clients with their tax questions throughout the year.
  4. Record entries within client’s accounting system and spot potential accounting and tax errors.
  5. Run from start to finish a tax planning engagement from the initial kickoff meeting to the presenting of the strategies and identification of implementation strategies.
  6. Maintain training materials for internal tax staff to help train to become tax planning advisors.
  7. Keep up to date with latest tax legislation changes and IRS pronouncements as they become available.
  8. Spend time researching strategies that may apply to clients to help keep up to date with the evolving tax industry.
  9. Entering daily transactions for all our clients using several software platforms
  10. Responding to requests from clients on general accounting needs (i.e., running reports, responding to requests, etc.)
  11. Prepare reconciliations (i.e., bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, general ledger accounts, etc.)
  12. Perform self-review to ensure that accounting is accurate.
  13. Establish, document, and evaluate internal processes for the best client experience.
  14. To ensure accounting files are maintained and accurate for the clients and internal use.
  15. Review staff work and ensure accurate and timely financial statement are prepared for the clients.
  16. Ensure we maintain open and responsible communication with the client.
  17. Ensure clients are satisfied with the quality of the work we do. Relationships are maintained to ensure long-term retention.
  18. Any other task that is necessary for the proper functioning of the Company.
Qualifications for the job: 
  1. 3+ years of working in public accounting on taxes for individuals and small businesses owners.
  2. 1+ years of people management experience
  3. Must be a licensed Puerto Rico and Federal tax preparer (CPA preferred but not required).
  4. Excellent verbal and written skills with the flexibility to effectively communicate complex accounting and tax concepts to clients while building remote relationships with individuals from different backgrounds (religious, geographic, socio-economic, ethnicity, etc.)
  5. Client relationship driven with an excellent knowledge of client’s mission and understanding of their changing needs.
  6. You don’t have to know everything you are going to be assigned. You do have to be committed to researching, being resourceful, asking questions, and anything else to find the answer.
  7. Self-starter who is effective with minimal direction.
  8. Ambassador for the organization.
  9. Excellent team member and leader.
  10. Strong problem solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  11. Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks, and deliver results in a fast paced and dynamic environment with the desire for continuous improvement.
  12. Advanced Excel skills.
  13. Highly Proficient in QuickBooks Online.
  14. Willingness and ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
  15. Ability to make decisions on complex challenges based on sound judgment and outside-of-the-box thinking.
  16. Focus on solving the problem and developing solutions that will work for the long term.
  17. Ability to work on multiple projects at once, while meeting or exceeding tight deadlines.
Benefits:
  1. Base Salary Range- Starting at $60,000 & up depending on experience.
  2. 20 days of Vacation leave yearly.
  3. Performance Bonus (% to be determined)
  4. Christmas Bonus according to existing Law.

Work Hours
